Swampscott, MA Natural Stone Cleaning
We received a call from a homeowner in Swampscott who was having trouble getting the natural stone floor in her kitchen and entryway clean. She was tired of scrubbing the floor on her hands and knees to get the floor to look clean. Worst of all, after all that work, the floor would look dirty again in a couple of days. Her grandchildren would visit and would end up with extremely soiled socks after running through the kitchen a few times.
We setup a time to do a free in-home estimate. Upon arriving we discovered the homeowner had green slate flooring and it was extremely soiled. After examining the floor thoroughly and asking the homeowner about her maintenance process for the floor, we realized the real problem: the homeowner was using a heavy duty degreaser from the local home improvement store to clean the natural stone floor. The cleaner along with some scrubbing would get the floor clean. However, the floor would not stay clean because heavy duty cleaners leave a soil attracting residue behind causing natural stone floors to become soiled very quickly after the cleaning. After educating the homeowner, we scheduled a date to perform our Natural Stone deep cleaning.
We performed our 4 step deep cleaning process the next day, leaving the floor clean, dry and residue free. The homeowner was blown away. She said it looked like a new floor!
We finished up by going over our recommended maintenance, which consists of removing dry soil daily via a vacuum or dust mop and then mopping with a pH neutral floor cleaner and a microfiber mop. We also recommended a deep cleaning every 12 to 18 months.
